El silencio de la ciudad blanca (ebook), Eva García Sáenz de Urturi

First off I wanna start with the fact that the book really surprised me with the fact that it starts with a spoiler. I was kind of thrown off by it but the more I read the more I stuck to it's plot and characters so I actually even started to forget what I read in the prologue. It's an easy read really, the thriller, crime and suspense genre makes it easy to get glued to the book and to follow the story with a great span of attention. 488 pages felt like 188 sometimes due to how fast I was "eating" the book up, the story is well structured as the ending didn't disappoint aswell. 7.5/10

Mindhunter

Really good show to broaden your knowledge in the field of serial killers and how their minds work. This show left me with a question that remains to this day, unanswered. Are they born like this? Or do they turn into serial killers after being exposed to traumatic events? You can choose both sides as I don't think there's a correct answer. The show feels like is unfinished though, netflix pulled off another show cancel for no reason whatsoever. This show really works your intellect and makes you feel like you're there with Ford and Bill interviewing the serial killers they encountered along the way. After I finished the show I bought the book due to the unexpected finish and really enjoyed reading it, I definitely recommend buying it if you enjoyed the Netflix series.

Drive

Drive (2011). I'll be taking on the challenge of reviewing and dissecting this movie as it's a masterpiece to some and garbage to others, I'm kind of stuck in the middle though. Drive is a movie about about a stuntman and getaway driver (Ryan Gosling) that doesn't seem to be great with human interactions and it's reflected throughout the movie with the little dialogue that it's presented to the viewers. I truly love Ryan Gosling's posture in this movie, he just simply doesn't talk and keeps it all a mystery throughout the film, I found that really appealing as it's something new and refreshing about the modern cinema, he walks around with this "aura" that just simply attracts everyone to watching this movie. But let's get into the nitty gritty about this film that has so many different opinions. While it's true that Ryan Gosling had a godlike performance, let's just say that the plot... Didn't. I hate when there's a situation where the plot carries the cast or vice-versa, in this case, the protagonist really did carry the plot to the fullest. Despite of how good the main protagonist was, the plot almost made it UNBEARABLE to watch the movie until the end, I can't count the amount of times that I almost stopped watching because I was getting bored to death, I just didn't because I was so amazed by Ryan Gosling's character. The fact that the movie tried to cover so many genres (Racing, Suspense, Crime, Gore, Romance, Drama... There's a lot) didn't help it's development and just made me confused throughout the story. As I said in the intro of the post I'm stuck in the middle when it comes to evaluating this 1h 40 of brilliant acting followed by a terrible story and development. The movie is truly iconic though, but only due to our driver that was a bright light in a room full of darkness. The remaining cast also didn't live up to the main protagonist performance so that's a let off aswell, the movie is simply unbalanced in every type of way. Favourite Quote: "Second chances are rare" there's not much to choose from honestly. Rating(0-10): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. 5 stars due to Ryan Gosling's performance alone, the plot ruined the movie.

Legend

Today I want to talk about Legend, a movie that resolves around the life of the notorious Kray twins, Reggie and Ronnie, while also tackling the love life of both brothers. That's where Emily Browning comes in as Frances Shea, the woman behind the mobster who always seems to have some magical control on him and manages to cool him down... Until a certain point at least. Reggie Kray was a former boxer and Ronnie was simply locked up in a psychiatric hospital due to suffering from paranoid schizophrenia. At the start of the movie Reggie uses his powers and threats to get Ronnie out of the hospital, but you could clearly see that Ronnie was not in a condition at all to stop being supervised by a medical institution. After Reggie bails him out they unite forces to start dominating and control a large part of London's criminal scene. Despite the fact that they were twins they were really different from each other tho, the goals that both wanted to achieve were the same in some way, but the means to fulfill those same goals, weren't. Tom Hardy is the main star of this movie, and deservedly so, he pulled off a major stunt and it was something that I've never seen as well, he's actually the same actor for the 2 main characters in the movie. When I knew this information before watching the film I instantly thought that it was not gonna work and that he wouldn't be able to pull off this magic stunt, but it worked, in a wonderful way. I guess that I was worried about the fact that Hardy would behave too similarly while portraying the 2 making it hard to differentiate one twin from another in terms of actions and personality wise, but he gave each twin a whole different energy. The movie is really well structured and really captures the reality that most don't live and don't have a clue about, a reality filled with criminality, wars, jail and all sorts of stuff in the criminal world. Favourite Quote: "They won't talk to a policeman but they'll kiss a gangster". Rating(0-10): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.
